Kaleidoscope Presents – A Night of Comedy: A Series of One Act Plays

April 10 – 14, 2012 at Kaleidoscope Theatre

Performances at 7:30pm nightly

What do cabbage, double-stuff Oreos, toast and sugar cookies have in common? Comedy, of course! Join us for an evening that will explore the many facets of comedy. These performances are intended for a mature audience and will highlight how everyday situations and relationships can be both hilarious, and at times, dark or tragic.

Featuring:

Cabbage Head – directed by Warren Nicholls

Ella, a woman in her 30s and no one’s fool, stops by for a quick visit with her mother who is a religious fanatic. This slightly dark interaction proves that going home is never easy.

Chain Mail – directed by Warren Nicholls

Chain Mail explores what happens when paranoia comes to visit. Nicky receives a letter, and obsesses to his wife Danielle about its consequences.

When God Comes for Breakfast, You Don’t Burn the Toast – directed by Becky Neuman

What do you do when “The Almighty” drops in for a casual breakfast? When Harry and Beatrice Katzman are faced with this unusual situation, the commonplace and the totally unexpected come together in a flurry of humour and excitement.

Tough Cookies – directed by Becky Neuman

This play explores the lives of two generations of women living under one roof. The story centers on Jo, who after her father dies, takes in her feisty mother, Mammaw. The dialogue between them and long-time neighbour Billie is, at once, outrageously funny and heartbreakingly tragic. The cookies in question may or may not be poisoned, but if you like your tragedies hysterically funny, then take a bite of this.
Warning: Mature content
